Winter Time

This tutorial was written by me on 15 November 2008. Any similarities to other tutorials is purely coincidental.
Supplies Needed:
Tube of choice. I am using the adorable artwork of Suzanne Woolcott. If you wish to use her artwork you must purchase a license here

Falling Snow animation
Image of choice. I used one of Suzanne Woolcott's.
Font of choice. I used Juice ITC (pay font)

FM Tile Tools Blend Emboss
Let's get started! Open up a new transparent image 650 x 650. Floodfill with white. Open up my snowflake frame. Copy the frame layer and paste onto your working image. Go to selections > select all. Selections > float. Selections > defloat.
Open up a paper of choice from the kit. Resize by 79%, smartsize. Copy and paste as a new layer onto your canvas. Go to selections > invert. Hit delete on your keyboard. Deselect. (CTRL+D) Delete the gray frame layer.
Highlight your frame layer. Grab your magic wand tool, tolerance set at 30, feather set at 0.00. Click inside the empty space of the big circle. Go to selections > modify > expand by 3.00. Open up a paper of choice from the kit. Resize by 79%, smartsize. Copy and paste onto your canvas. Selections > invert. Hit delete on your keyboard. Deselect. Drag the paper below your frame layer.
Highlight your frame layer. Grab your magic wand tool again. Click inside all the empty spaces of the smaller circles. Open up another paper of choice from the kit. Resize by 79%, smartsize. Copy and paste onto your canvas. Selections > invert. Hit delete. Do NOT deselect.
Open up your image of choice. Resize if necessary. Copy and paste it onto your canvas. Hit delete. Deselect. Change the blend mode to overlay. Drag both layers beneath the frame.
Highlight your frame layer. Grab your magic wand tool, tolerance 30, feather set at 1.00. Click inside the empty space of the big circle. Go to selections > modify > expand by 1.00.
Open up your tube. Resize if necessary, bicubic. Copy and paste onto your canvas. Position it to your liking within the selection. Selections > invert. Grab your eraser tool, size 30, Opacity 90. Carefully erase the part of the tube that you don't want hanging out of the frame. Deselect. Give your tube a drop shadow of H and V 0, Opacity 60, Blur 10.00.
Highlight your frame and give it a drop shadow of H and V 0, Opacity 60, Blur 5.00.
Open up one of the rectangular frames from the scrapkit. Resize by 25%, smartsize. Copy and paste as a new layer onto your canvas. Position to your liking on the big circle of the frame. Grab your magic wand tool, tolerance 30, feather set at 0.00. Click inside the empty space of the frame.
Open up a paper of choice from the kit. Resize by 35%, smartsize. Copy and paste onto your canvas. Position within the selection. Selections > invert. Hit delete on your keyboard. Do NOT deselect.
Open up the bear from the kit. Resize by 35%, smartsize. Copy and paste onto your canvas. Position within the selection. Hit delete. Deselect. Give the bear a drop shadow of H and V 0, Opacity 40, Blur 4.00. Highlight the scrapkit frame and give it a drop shadow of H and V 0, Opacity 50, Blur 5.00.
Open up a button from the kit. Resize by 15%, smartsize. Copy and paste onto your canvas. Give the button a drop shadow of H and V 0, Opacity 40, Blur 3.00. Duplicate the button and position them so they look as if they are holding the scrapkit frame in place.
Open up the magic snowman 3 from the kit. Resize by 40%, smartsize. Copy and paste onto your canvas. Give him a drop shadow of H and V 0, Opacity 50, Blur 4.00. Position him at the bottom of the 2 smaller circles of the frame (see my tag for reference)
Open up penguin 3 from the kit. Resize by 40%, smartsize. Copy and paste onto your canvas. Give him the same drop shadow you gave the snowman and position at the bottom of the big circle of the frame (see my tag for reference)
Open up a flower of choice from the kit. Resize by 25%, smartsize. Give it the same drop shadow yoy gave the penguin. Position to your liking.
Open up a bow fastener of choice. Resize by 30%, smartsize. Copy and paste onto your canvas. Give it a drop shadow of H and V 0, Opacity 50, Blur 4.00. Position to your liking.
Open up the magic heart from the kit. Resize by 20%, smartsize. Copy and paste onto your canvas. Give it the same drop shadow you gave your bow fastener. Position to your liking.
Open up wordart 2 and 3. Resize them both by 40%, smartsize. Copy and paste onto your canvas. Give them both a drop shadow of H 0, V 0, Opacity 50, Blur 3.00. Position as in my tag above.
Highlight your white background. Open up the tree from the kit. Resize by 75%, smartsize. Copy and paste onto your canvas. Give it a drop shadow of H and V 0, Opacity 60. Blur 6.00. Duplicate the tree. Position as in my tag above.
Add any other embellishments of your choosing.
Hide your white background. Merge all visible layers together. Duplicate the merged layer. On the bottom layer, go to adjust > blur > gaussian blur. Apply with a radius of 10.00. Go to Effects > Texture Effects > Weave. Apply with the following settings:
Apply FM Tile Tools Blend Emboss with default settings and lower the opacity of the layer to 70%.
Open up a paper of choice from the kit. Resize by 79%, smartsize. Copy and paste onto your canvas. Apply sunf's mask:

Fit to Layer
Hide all mask
Delete the mask from your layer palette. Answer yes to the pop up box. Merge the group. Resize the mask by 95%, smartsize. Go to Adjust > Add/Remove Noise > Add Noise. Apply noise to the mask, gaussian and monochrome checked, value set at 30. Give the mask a drop shadow of H 1, V 0, Opacity 50, Blur 2.00.
Crop and resize to your liking. Add your copyright info, watermark and text.
If you are not animating, save as JPG or PNG.
If you are animating, hide your top merged layer and merged your blurred weave layer, mask layer and white background together. Copy this layer.
Open up animation shop. Paste as a new animation. Duplicate until you have a total of 10 frames. Select all frames (CTRL+A).
Open up the falling snow animation. Select all frames (CTRL+A) Copy. Highlight your blurred, mask animation. Go to edit > paste into selected frame. Close the snow animation.
Back to Paint Shop Pro. Copy your top layer. Paste as a new animation in AS. Duplicate until you have 10 frames. Select all frames (CTRL+A). Copy.
Highlight your blurred, mask, snow layer. Select all frames (CTRL+A) Go to Edit > paste into your selected frame.
Optimize and save as gif.
