PostHeaderIcon I Ate the Gingerbread Man

This tutorial was written by me on 15 November 2008.  Any similarities to other tutorials is purely coincidental.
 
Supplies Needed:
 
Tube of choice.  I am using the awesome artwork of Rion Vernon.  I got this tube when CILM was still open.  You can find him at CDO now.

Let's get started!  Open up  my template.  Duplicate by holding down (SHIFT + D)  Close the original.  Delete the credits and snowflake layers.
 
Highlight the brackets layer.  Go to selections > select all.  Selections > float.  Selections > defloat.  Open up a paper of choice from the scrapkit.  Resize by 46%, smartsize.  Copy and paste as a new layer onto your canvas.  Go to selections > invert.  Hit delete on your keyboard.  Deselect. (CTRL+D)  Give the layer a drop shadow of H and V 0, Opacity 60, Blur 10.00.  Delete the brackets template layer.
 
Highlight the bottom big scallop layer.  Select, float and defloat.  Open up a paper of choice from the kit.  Resize by 46%, smartsize.  Copy and paste as a new layer onto your canvas.  Selections > invert.  Hit delete on your keyboard.  Deselect.  Give the layer a drop shadow of H and V 0, Opacity 60, Blur 7.00.  Delete the bottom big scallop template layer.
 
Highlight the top big scallop layer and repeat the same steps.
 
Highlight the small scallop 1 layer.  Select, float and defloat.  Open up a paper of choice from the kit.  Resize by 35%, smartsize.  Copy and paste onto your canvas.  Position within the selection.  Selections > invert.  Hit delete.  Deselect.  Give the layer a drop shadow of H and V 0, Opacity 50, Blur 6.00.  Delete the small scallop 1 template layer.  Repeat these same steps with the remaing 2 small scallops.
 
Highlight the oval.  Select, float and defloat.  Open up a paper of choice.  Resize by 46%, smartsize.  Copy and paste onto your canvas.  Selections > invert.  Hit delete.  Deselect.  Give the layer a drop shadow of H and V 0, Opacity 60, Blur 8.00.
 
Highlight the brackets layer.  Open up a ribbon of choice.  Resize by 20%, smartsize.  Copy and paste onto your canvas.  Give it a drop shadow of H and V 0, Opacity 30, Blur 3.00.  Duplicate the ribbon.  Go to image > mirror.  Position them on the points of your brackets.
 
Open up a candy cane of choice.  Resize by 15%, smartsize.  Copy and paste onto your canvas. Give it a drop shadow of H and V 0, Opacity 50, Blur 4.00.  Duplicate and mirror the candy cane.  Position them in the middle of your ribbons.
 
 Open up a Christmas heart of choice.  Resize by 10%, smartsize.   Copy and paste onto your canvas.  Position it on the top big scallop.  Give it a drop shadow of H and V 0, Opacity 50, Blur 5.00.  
 
Open up a single poinsetta of choice.  Resize by 20%, smartsize.  Copy and paste onto your canvas.  Give it a drop shadow of H and V 0, Opacity 50, Blur 4.00.  Duplicate and mirror the poinsetta.  Position them over the christmas heart. 
 
Open up the stocking.  Resize by 20%, smartsize.  Copy and paste onto your canvas.  Give the stocking a drop shadow of H and V 0, Opacity 40, Blur 4.00.  Position the stocking to your liking on the top right small scallop.  Duplicate the stocking.  Go to image > mirror.  Position the duplicated stocking on the top left small scallop.
 
Open up a snowflake of choice.  Resize by 20%, smartsize.  Copy and paste onto your canvas.  Give the snowflake a drop shadow of H 1, V 0, Opacity 40, Blur 2.00.  Duplicate the snowflake.  Position them over the loops of the stockings.
 
Highlight the oval layer.  Open up the christmas tree from the kit.  Resize by 35%, smartsize.  Copy and paste the tree onto your canvas.  Give it a drop shadow of H and V 0, Opacity 50, Blur 4.00.  Duplicate the tree.  Go to image > mirror.  Position the trees on the sides of the oval. (see my tag for reference)
 
Open up the gingerbread house.  Resize by 50%, smartsize.  Copy and paste onto your canvas.  Give the gingerbread house a drop shadow of H and V 0, Opacity 25, Blur 8.00.  Position the house in the center of the xmas trees.  (see my tag for reference.)
 
Open up the train.  Resize by 30%, smartsize.  Copy and paste as a new layer onto your canvas.  Give it a drop shadow of H and V 0, Opacity 50, Blur 5.00.  Position to your liking. 
 
Open up the present from the kit.   Resize by 50%, smartsize.  Copy and paste onto your canvas.  Give it the same drop shadow you gave your train.  Position to your liking. 
 
Add any other embellishments of your choosing. 
 
Highlight your white background.  Add a new raster layer. Apply xero sparkles with the following settings: ( I used color #c00000 for both the main color and the highlights)

Grab your selection tool, type rectangle, feather 20.00.  On the sparkles layer, draw out a biggish rectangle in the middle of your canvas.  Go to selections > invert.  Hit delete 3x.  Deselect.
 
Highlight your white background.  Open up a paper of choice from the kit.  Resize by 55%, smartsize.  Copy and paste onto your canvas.  Apply UFMask 32:
 
Source Luminance
 
Fit to Layer
 
Hide all mask
 
Delete the mask from your layer palette.  Answer yes to pop up box and merge the group.  Apply Eyecandy Impact gradient glow with a color of choice with the following settings:

Open up your tube.  Resize, bicubic if necessary.  Copy and paste onto your canvas.  Give the tube a drop shadow of H and V 0, Opacity 60, Blur 10.00.  Position to your liking.
 
Resize the tag to your liking.  Add your copyright info, your watermark and your text.
 
If you are not animating, then save as PNG or JPG.  If you are, let's continue!
 
Copy merged.  Open up animation shop.  Paste as a new animation in AS.
 
Back to Paint Shop Pro.  Open up the bite shape.  Highlight the gingerbread house layer.  Copy and paste the bite shape onto the canvas.  Position it at the top of the gingerbread house like this:

Select, float and defloat the bite shape.  Highlight the gingerbread house layer.  Hit delete.  Deselect.  Hide the bite shape layer.  You should now have a "bite" in the house.  lol
 
Copy merged.  Paste after frame 1 in Animation Shop.  Back to Paint Shop Pro.  Unhide the bite shape.  Bring it a little lower down and to the side.  Select, float and defloat.  Highlight the gingerbread house layer.  Hit delete.  Deselect.  Hide the bite shape, and copy merged. 
 
Paste after frame 2 in Animation Shop.  Highlight frame 1.  Change the frame properties to 180. 
 
Highlight frame 2.  Change the frame properties to 45. 
 
Highlight frame 3.  Change the frame properties to 80.
 
Optimize and save as gif.
