Winter Fae

This tutorial was written by me on 5 November 2008. Any similarities to other tutorials is purely coincidental.
Supplies Needed:
Tube of choice. I am using the ethereal artwork of Rachel Anderson. I got this tube when CILM was still open. You can find her CDO now.

Animation Shop
Let's get started! Open up my tempate. Duplicate by holding down (shift + d) Close the original. Delete the credits layer.
Highlight the left rectangle layer. Go to selections > select all. Selections > float. Selections > defloat. Open up a colored paper of choice. Resize by 46%, smartsize. Copy and paste as a new layer onto your canvas. Go to selections > invert. Hit delete. Do NOT deselect.
Open up the ballroom scenery background. Resize by 45%, smartsize. Copy and paste onto your cavas. Position to your liking within the selection. Hit delete. Deselect (CTRL+D). Change the ballroom layer blend mode to hard light. Delete the gray left rectangle. Merge your ballroom and colored paper together. Give the layer a drop shadow of H and V 0, Opacity 60, Blur 8.00.
Highlight the right rectangle. Repeat the same steps as above. (see my tag for reference)
Highlight the right circle layer. Select, float and defloat. Open up a paper of choice from the kit. Resize by 446%, smartsize. Copy and paste onto your canvas. Selections > invert. Hit delete. Do NOT deselect.
Open up the palace from the kit. Resize by 30%, smartsize. Position to your liking within the circle. Hit delete. Deselect. Change the blend mode of the palace to Luminance. Give it a drop shadow of H and V 0, Opacity 50, Blur 5.00.
Highlight the paper circle. Give it a drop shadow of H and V 0, Opacity 60, Blur 8.00. Delete the gray circle.
Highlight the left circle. Select, float and defloat. Open up the same paper you used for the other circle. Resize 46%. Copy and paste as a new layer onto your canvas. Selections > invert. Hit delete. DO NOT deselect.
Open up the carriage from the kit. Resize by 30%, smartsize. Position to your liking within the circle. Hit delete. Deselect. Give the carriage a drop shadow of H and V 0, Opacity 50, Blur 5.00. CHange the blend mode of the carriage to luminance. Give the paper circle a drop shadow of H and V 0, Opacity 60, Blur 8.00. Delete the gray circle.
Highlight the bracket layer. Select, float and defloat. Open up a paper of choice. Resize by 46%, smartsize. Copy and paste as a new layer onto your canvas. Selections > invert. Hit delete. Deselect. Give the layer a drop shadow of H and V 0, Opacity 60, Blur 10.00 Delete the black bracket.
Highlight the scalloped circle. Select, float and defloat. Open up a paper of choice. Resize by 46%, smartsize. Copy and paste onto your canvas. Selections > invert. Hit delete. Do NOT deselect.
Open up your tube. Resize bicubic if necessary. Copy and paste to your liking with in the scalloped circle. Hit delete. Do NOT deselect.
Open up roses of choice. Resize by 30%, smartsize. Paste them onto your canvas and position them so that they are at the bottom of your tube (see my tag for reference) Duplicate the roses 2 x and arrange them to your liking. Hit delete. Deselect.
Give the flowers a drop shadow of H and V 0, Opacity 50, Blur 3.00.
Give your tube a drop shadow of H and V 0, Opacity 60, Blur 12.00.
Give the paper scallop circle a drop shadow of H and V 0, Opacity 60, Blur 8.00. Delete the gray scallop circle.
Open up a snowflake of choice. Resize by 25%, smartsize. Copy and paste onto your canvas. Give it a drop shadow of H and V 0, Opacity 50, Blur 3.00. Duplicate the snowflake and postion them to your liking. (see my tag for reference)
Open up a christmas flower of choice. Resize by 30%, smartsize. Copy and paste onto your canvasa. Give it a drop shadow of H and V 0, Opacity 50, Blur 3.00. Duplicate the flower. Go to image > mirror. Position them to your liking. (see my tag for reference)
Open up a princess bow of choice. Resize by 20%, smartsize. Copy and paste onto your canvas. Give it a drop shadow of H and V 0, Opacity 50, Blur 3.00. Duplicate the bow. Position them to your liking. (see my tag for reference)
Open up 2 more snowflakes of choice. Resize them by 15%, smartsize. Copy and paste them onto your canvas. Give the a drop shadow of H and V 0, Opacity 50, Blur 3.00. Duplicate each snowflake and position them to your liking.
Highlight one of your circle layers. Open up a Christmas tree of choice. Resize by 50%. Copy and paste onto your canvas. Position as in my tag above. Give the tree a drop shadow of H and V 0, Opacity 60, Blur 5.00.
Add any other embellishments of your choosing. :-) ( I added a couple of fans and a unicorn)
When you are done decorationg your tag. Hide your white background and merge your visible layers.
Duplicate your merged layer. On the bottom layer go to adjust > blur > gaussian blur > Apply with a radius of 12.00. Apply Vix's mask to this blurred layer with the following settings:

Fit to Layer
Hide all mask
Delete the mask from your layer palette. Answer yes and merge the group.
Resize the mask layer by 80%, smartsize. Duplicate the mask and arrange as in my tag above. Hide your tag layer and your white background and merge the 2 mask layers together.
Crop and resize to your liking. Add your copyright info, watermark and your text. If you are not animating, save as JPG or PNG.
If you are animating, highlight the mask layer. Apply DSB Flux Bright Noise with the following settings:
Copy merged. Open up animation shop. Paste as a new animation in AS. Back to PSP. Go to Edit > undo bright noise. Apply Bright Noise again, but hit the mix button 2 x. Copy merged. Paste after frame 1 in AS. Back to PSP, go to edit > undo bright noise. Apply noise again but this time click the mix buttom 3x. Copy merged and paste after frame 2 in Animation shop. You should have a total of 3 frames.
Optimize and save as gif.
