PostHeaderIcon Winter Beauty

This tutorial was written by me on 3 December 2008.  Any similarities to other tutorials is purely coincidental.
 
Supplies Needed:
 
Tube of choice.  I am using the elegant artwork of Jennifer Janesko.  I got this tube when CILM was still open.  You can find her CDO now.
 
Scrapkit.  I am using the awesome freebie kit Frost Yourself by Lorna of Simply Sensational Scraps.  You can download this freebie kit, plus many others here
 
Template 64 made by me which you can download here

Let's get started!  Open up my template.  Duplicate by holding down shift + d.  Close the original.  Delete the credit info layer.
 
Highligh the snowflake wreathe 1 layer.  Go to selections > select all.  Selections > float.  Selections > defloat.  Open up a paper of choice from the kit.  Resize by 91%, smartsize.  Copy and paste as a new layer onto your canvas.  Go to selections > invert.  Hit delete on your keyboard.  Deselect (CTRL+D).  Apply Lokas Drop with the following settings:

Now apply Eyecandy Gradient Glow with the following settings:

Give the layer a drop shadow of H and V 0, Opacity 40, Blur 5.00.
 
Highlight the snowflake wreathe 2 layer and repeat all the same steps you did with the first one.
 
Highlight the oval 1 layer.  Select, float and defloat.  Open up a paper of choice.  Resize by 91%, smartsize.  Copy and paste as a new layer onto your canvas.  Position within the oval selection.  Selections > invert.  Hit delete.  Deselect (CTRL+D) Give the layer a drop shadow of H and V 0, Opacity 50, Blur 10.00.  Delete the gray oval.
 
Highlight the oval 2 layer and repeat the same steps as you did with the oval 1 layer.
 
Open up the ivy from the kit.  Resize by 35%, smartsize.  Copy and paste onto your canvas.  Give it a drop shadow of H and V 0, Opacity 50, Blur 5.00.  Position to your liking within the left oval.  Highlight the left oval layer.  Select, float and defloat.  Selections > invert.  Highlight the ivy layer.  Hit delere and deselect.
 
Do the same with the right oval.
 
Highlight the right fill layer.  Select, float and defloat.  Open up a paper of choice.  Resize by 60%, smartsize.  Copy and paste as a new layer onto your canvas.  Position the paper within the selection.  Selections > invert.  Hit delete. Don't deselect yet!
 
Open up the silver tree.  Resize by 50%, smartsize.  Go to image > free rotate.  Rotate right by 15.00, both boxes unchecked.  Go to adjust > sharpen.  Apply gradient glow, same settings as before, but change the color to white.  Copy and paste onto your canvas.  Position within the selection.  Hit delete.  Deselect. Delete the gray right fill layer.
 
Highlight the right angled frame.  Select, float and defloat.  Open up a paper of choice.  Resize by 60%, smartsize.  Copy and paste as a new layer onto your canvas.  Selections > invert.  Hit delete.  Deselect.  Apply lokas drop with the same setting as before.  Apply Eyecandy Nature Icicles with the following settings:

Give the layer a drop shadow of H and V 0, Opacity 50, Blur 5.00.  Delete the gray frame.
 
Highlight the left fill layer.  Select, float and defloat.  Open up a paper of choice from the kit.  Resize by 60%, smartsize.  Copy and paste as a new layer onto your canvas.  Selections > invert.  Hit delete.  Deselect.  Highlight the silver tree layer.  Duplicate.  Go to image > mirror.  Position the silver tree within the left fill layer.  Delete the gray left fill layer.
 
Highlight the left frame layer.  Select, float and defloat.  Open up the same paper you used for the right frame.  Resize by 60%, smartsize.  Copy and paste onto your canvas.  Position within the selection.  Selections > invert.  Hit delete.  Deselect.  Apply Lokas Drop, same settings as before.  Apply Nature Icicles, same settings as before.  Give the frame a drop shadow of H and V 0, Opacity 50, Blur 5.00.  Delete the left frame.
 
Highlight the picture fill.  Select, float and defloat.  Open up a paper of choice from the kit.  Resize by 91%, smartsize.  Copy and paste as a new layer onto your canvas.  Selections > invert.  Hit delete.  Deselect.  Delete the gray picture fill.
 
Highlight the picture frame.  Select, float and defloat.  Open up a paper of choice from the kit.  Resize by 91%, smartsize.  Copy and paste as new layer onto your canvas.  Selections > invert.  Hit delete and deselect.  Apply Eyecandy Nature Snow Drift with the following settings:

Open up your tube.  Resize as necessary, bicubic.  Copy and paste as a new layer onto your canvas.  Give your tube a drop shadow of H and V 0, Opacity 60, Blur 10.00.  Copy and paste as a new layer onto your canvas.
 
Highlight your picture frame.  Grab your magic wand tool, tolerance set at 30.00, feather set at 0.00.  Go to selections > modify > expand by 1.00.  Go to selections > invert. 
 
Highlight your tube layer.  Grab your eraser tool, size 25, opacity 100.  Erase any parts of the tube you don't want hanging out of the frame.  Deselect.
 
Highlight your picture frame layer and give it a drop shadow of H and V 0, Opacity 50, Blur 7.00.  Delete the gray picture frame.
 
Open up a tree of choice from the kit.  Resize by 45%, smartsize.  Copy and paste onto your canvas.  Give it a drop shadow of H and V 0, Opacity 50, Blur 5.00.  Position at the bottom right corner of the picture frame. (see my tag for reference)
 
Open up a bow of choice.  Resize by 30%, smartsize.  Copy and paste as a new layer onto your canvas.  Give it a drop shadow of H and V 0, Opacity 50, Blur 5.00.  Position over the stem of the tree.
 
Open up another bow of choice.  Resize by 20%, smartsize.  Copy and paste onto your canvas.  Give it a drop shadow of H and V 0, Opacity 50, Blur 4.00.  Duplicate the bow.  Positioin them to your liking on the smaller frames.
 
Highlight your white background.  Open up a flower of choice.  Resize by 90%, smartsize.  Copy and paste onto your canvas.  Give it a drop shadow of H and V 0, opacity 50, Blur 8.00.  Position the flower in the right upper hand corner of the tag (see my tag for reference)  Duplicate the flower.  Go to image > mirror.  Duplicate the mirrored flower.  Go to image > flip.  Duplicate the flipped flower.  Go to image > mirror.  Position the flowers as in my tag above.
 
Highlight your white background.  Open up a snowflake of choice.  Copy and paste onto your canvas.  Give it a drop shadow of H and V 0, Opacity 50, Blur 5.00.  Duplicate the snowflake 3x for a total of 4.  Position as in my tag above.
 
Highlight your white background.  Make a light colored gradient - Style Linear, Angle 45, Repeats 3.  Add a new raster layer.  Floodfill the new layer with the gradient.  Go to adjust > blur > gaussian blur.  Blur with a radius of 10.  Apply SG Christmas mask 4 with the following settings:
 
Source Luminance
 
Fit to Canvas
 
Hide all Mask
 
Delete the mask from your layer palette.  Answer yes to the pop up box and merge the group.  Resize the mask by 88%, smartsize.  Apply Lokas Drop, same settings as before.  Go to adjust > add/remove noise > add noise.  Apply with the following settings:
 
Random and Monochrome checked
 
Value set at 25
 
Give the mask layer a drop shadow of H 1, V -1, Opcity 50, Blur 3.00. 
 
Hide your white background.  Merge your visible layers.  On your merged layer, apply Xero Porcelain with the following settings:

On your merged layer, go to adjust > sharpness > unsharp mask.  Apply with the following settings:
 
Radius 5
 
Strength 15
 
Clipping 1
 
Add your copyright info, watermark, and text.  If you are not animating, then save as JPG or PNG.
 
If you are animating, merge your layers together.  Grab your freehand selections tool, type point to point, feather set at 1.00.  Carefully select around the areas, you want to sparkle.  Apply Constellation with the following settings:

Deselect.  Copy.  Open up Animation Shop.  Paste as a new animation in AS.
 
Back to Paint Shop Pro.  Go to edit  > undo select none.  Edit > undo constellation.  Apply Constellation again, but this time hit the random seed button.  Deselect.  Copy and paste after your current frame in AS.
 
Repeat the above steps, 2 more times for a total of 4 frames.
 
Select all frames (CTRL+A)  Change the frame properties to 13.
 
Optimize and save as gif.
