This tutorial was written by me on 30 May 2009. Any similarities to other tutorials is purely coincidental.
Supplies Needed:
1 tube and close up of choice. I am using the awesome artwork of Dominic Marco.This tube was purchased when CILM was still open. You can find his art at his store here now..

Ok! Let's get started! Open up a new transparent image 800 x 700. Floodfill with white.
Open up bracket 1 (the pink one) from the kit. Resize by 55%, smartsize. Copy and paste as a new layer onto your canvas. Position it towards the right of your canvas. Duplicate the bracket. Go to image > mirror. Rotate left by 18.00, both boxes unchecked. Go to adjust > sharpness > unsharp mask. Apply with a radius 5, strength 40, clipping 2. Position it to the right of the other bracket, slightly below it. (se my tag for reference). Duplicate the rotated bracket. Drag the bottom rotated bracket below your original bracket.
Highlight the top rotated bracket. Grab your eraser tool, size 40, opacity 100. Erase the top part of the rotated bracket that intersects with the original bracket so they look as if they intertwined. Hide your white background and merge your visible layers. Center your merged brakcet layer in the center of your canvas.
Highlight the top rotated bracket. Grab your eraser tool, size 40, opacity 100. Highlight your merged brackets, and grab your magic wand tool, tolerance set at 50, feather set at 0.00. Click in all of the empty spaces of the brackets. Go to selections > modify > expand by 4.00. Open up a paper from the kit. Copy and paste as a new layer onto your canvas. Selections > invert. Hit delete. Don't deselect. yet.
Drag your paper layer beneath your brackets layer. Open your close up. Resize, if necessary, bicubic. Copy and paste as a new layer onto your canvas. Position it in the rotated bracket. Hit delete. Don't deselect yet.
Open your tube. Resize as necessary, bicubic. Copy and paste as a new layer onto your canvas. Position the tube to your liking. Make sure you like where it is, because you can't move it after this!! lol Duplicate your tube. Drag the bottom tube layer to below your brackets layer. The top tube layer should be just above the brackets. Hide the top tube layer. Highlight your bottom tube layer. Grab your eraser tool, size 30, opacity 100.
Carefully erase the parts of the tube that you don't want hanging out of the brackets. Deselect. Unhide and highlight your top tube layer and carefully erase parts of the tube so it looks as if the tube is intertwined with the brackets. Highlight the bottom tube layer ad give it a drop shadow of H and V 0, Opacity 80, Blur 12.00.
Carefully erase the parts of the tube that you don't want hanging out of the brackets. Deselect. Unhide and highlight your top tube layer and carefully erase parts of the tube so it looks as if the tube is intertwined with the brackets. Highlight the bottom tube layer ad give it a drop shadow of H and V 0, Opacity 80, Blur 12.00.
Highlight your close up layer. Change the blend mode to overlay. Give it a drop shadow of H and V 0, Opacity 55, Blur 6.00.
Open up the cluster floral 1 from the kit. Resize by 30%, smartsize. Copy and paste as a new layer onto your canvas. Go to image > flip. Give it a drop shadow of H -2, V 2, Opacity 60. Blur 5.00. Position in the right side of the right bracket. Drag the cluster floral beneath your bracket layer.
Open up gingham ribbon 2 from the kit. Resize by 55%, smartsize. Copy and paste as a new layer onto your canvas. Give it a drop shadow of H 2, V -2, Opacity 60, Blur 3.00. Position it at the right upper corner of the right bracket.
Open ribbon with flowers1 from the kit. Resize by 40%, smartsize. Copy and paste as a new layer onto your kit. Go to image > mirror. Give it a drop shadow of H 2, V 2, Opacity 65, Blur 4.00. Position on top of the gingham ribbon.
Open up prettyleaves1 from the kit. Resize by 20%, smartsize. Copy and paste as a new layer onto your canvas. Go to image > mirror. Then, image > flip. Give them a drop shadow of H and V0, Opacity 65, Blur 8.00. Position towards the bottom right corner of the right bracket.
Open up dragonfly1 from the kit. Resize by 20%, smartsize. Copy and paste as a new layer onto your canvas. Go to image > mirror. Give it a drop shadow of H and V 0, Opacity 65, Blur 6.00. Position the dragonfly on top of the pretty leaves.
Open up bow1 from the kit. Resize by 20%, smartsize. Copy and paste onto your canvas. Give it a drop shadow of H and V 0, Opacity 45, Blur 5.00. Duplicate the bow. Go to image > flip. Position the 2 bows in the left bottom corner of the left bracket. Duplicate the bow again. Go to image > free rotate. Rotate right by 90.00, both boxes unchecked. Duplicate the rotated bow. Go to image > mirror. Position them on top of the other 2 bows.
Open up the owl from the kit. Resize by 20%, smartsize. Copy and paste as a new layer onto your canvas. Give it a drop shadow of H and V 0, Oapcity 60, Blur 7.00. Position the owl on top of the bows.
Open up flower 7 from the kit. Resize by 35%, smartsize. Copy and paste as a new layer onto your canvas. Give it a drop shadow of H and V 0, Opacity 65, Blur 6.00. Position the flower in the upper left corner of the left bracket.
Open up flower 1 from the kit. Resize by 20%, smartsize. Copy and paste onto your canvas. Give it a drop shadow of H and V 0, Opacity 60, Blur 6.00. Position on top of flower 7.
Open up butterfly 1 from the kit. Resize by 20%,s martsize. Copy and paste onto your canvas. Give it a drop shadow of H and V 0, Opacity 65, Blur 8.00. Position so that the top of the string touches the jewel of flower 1.
Open up string1 from the kit. Resize by 45%, smartsize. Copy and paste onto your canvas. Give it a drop shadow of H -2, V 0, Opacity 60, Blur 2.00. Position to your liking.
Oen up brackets1 (the yellow ones) from the kit. Resize by 45%, smartsize. Copy and paste onto your canvas. Duplicate. Go to image > free rotate. Rotate left by 18.00, both boxes unchecked. Give them both a drop shadow of H and V 0, Opacity 65, Blur 5.00. Position them behind the pink brackets so that they are peekeing out a bit from behind them.
Open up doodlesflowers1 from the kit. Resize by 45%, smartsize. Copy and paste onto your canvas. Give it a drop shadow of H and V 0, Opacity 65, Blur 4.00. Duplicate. Go to image > mirror. Then, image > flip. Position them to your liking behind all the other layers. (see my tag for reference)
Open up the doodle butterfly. Resize by 25%, smartsize. Copy and paste onto your canvas. Give it a drop shadow of H 2, V 0, oapcity 60, Blur 2.00. Duplicate. Go to image > mirror. then, image > flip. Position to your liking.
Add any other embellishments of your choosing.
Highlight your white background. Open up a paper from the kit. Add a new raster layer. Select all. Copy your paper and paste into selection. Deselect. Apply Vix Mask 362 with the following settings:
Source Luminance
Fit to Layer
Hide all Mask
Delete the mask from your layer palette. Answer yes to the pop up box and merge the group. Give the mask a drop shadow of H 2, V 0, Opacity 35, Blur 3.00.
Crop and resize to your liking.
Add your copyright info, watermark and your text. If you are not animating, save as JPG or PNG.
If you are animating, grab your freehand selection tool, type point to point, feather set at 2.00. Highlight your top tube layer. Carefully select around the ice cream (not the cone!!). Apply Eyecandy 5 Nature - Drip with the following settings:
Now click on the Melt tab and apply the following settings:
Deselect. Copy merged. Open up Animation Shop. Paste as a new animation in AS.
Back to Paint Shop Pro. Go to edit > undo select none. Edit > undo Drip. Apply Drip again, same settings, but this time hit the random seed button. Copy merged. Paste after your current frame in AS.
Repeat the above steps 3 more times for a total of 4 frames.
In Animation Shop, select all frames (CTRL+A). Change the frame properties to 13.
Optimize and save as gif.
