Moonlit Fae

This tutorial was written by me on 11 December 2008. Any similarities to other tutorials is purely coincidental.
Supplies Needed:
Tube of choice. I am using the amazing artwork of Jessica Dougherty. I bought this tube when CILM was still open. You can find her at CDO now.

Xero Filters - Greytinter
Xenofex 2 - Electrify

Ok! Let's get started! Open up my template. Duplicate by holding down shift + d. Close the original. Delete the credit info layer.
Highlight the black stripes 1 layer. Go to selections > select all. Selections > float. Selections > defloat. Open up a paper of choice from the kit. Resize by 69%, smartsize. Position within the selection. Go to selections > invert. Hit delete on your keyboard. Deselect (CTRL+D) Give the layer a drop shadow of H and V 0, Opacity 60, Blur 8.00. Delete the black recangles 1 layer.
Highlight the black rectangles 2 layer and repeat all the steps you did with the black rectangles 1 layer.
Highlight the white stripes 1 layer. Select, float and defloat. Open up a paper of choice from the kit. Resize by 69%, smartsize. Copy and paste as a new layer onto your canvas. Position within the selection. Selections > invert. Hit delelete and deselect. Apply Gradient Glow (white) with the following settings:
Give the layer a drop shadow of H and V 0, Opacity 60, Blur 5.00. Delete the white stripes 1 layer.
Highlight the white stripes 2 layer and repeat all the same steps you did with the white stripes 1 layer.
Highlight the vertical rectangle layer. Select, float and defloat. Open up a paper of choice from the kit. Resize by 69%, smartsize. Copy and paste as new layer onto your canvas. Position within the selection. Selections > invert. Hit delete and deselect. Give the layer a drop shadow of H and V 0, Opacity 60, Blur 8.00. Delete the gray vertical rectangle layer.
Highlight the 2 rectangles layer. Select, float and defloat. Open up a paper of choice and resize by 69%, smartsize. Copy and paste onto your canvas and position within the selection. Selections > invert. Hit delete on your keyboard. Deselect. Apply Gradient Glow, same settings except change the glow width to 5.00. Give the layer a drop shadow of H and V 0, Opacity 60, Blur 5.00. Delete the gray 2 rectangles layer.
Highlight the frame background layer. Select, float and defloat. Open up the moonlight paper from the kit. Resize by 69%, smartize. Copy and paste as a new layer onto your canvas. Do NOT move the paper!! Selections > invert. Hit delete and deselect. Delete the gray frame background layer.
Highlight the crumpled circles layer. Select, float and defloat. Open up the moonlight paper again, resize by 69%, smartsize. Copy and paste as new layer onto your canvas. Do NOT move the paper!! Selections > invert. Hit delete. Do NOT deselect yet!
Open up your tube. Resize as necessary bicubic. Mirror your tube. Apply Xero Greytinter with the following settings:
Copy and paste your tube onto your canvas. Position to your liking within the selection. Deselect. Give your tube a drop shadow of H and V 0, Opacity 60, Blur 5.00.
Highlight your papered crumpled circle layer. Give it a drop shadow of H 7, V -10, Opacity 85, Blur 10.00. Delete the white crumpled circles layer.
Highlight your staples layer and apply gradient glow, same settings as before.
Highlight your frame layer. Select, float and defloat. Open up a paper of choice from the kit. (preferable a light colored one) Resize by 69%, smartsize. Copy and paste onto your canvas. Selections > invert. Hit delete and deselect. Give the layer a drop shadow of H and V 0, Opacity 65, Blur 6.00. Delete the white frame layer.
Highlight the square background 1 layer. Select, float and defloat. Open up another moonlight paper. Resize by 35%, smartsize. Copy and paste as a new layer onto your canvas. Position to your liking within the selection. Selections > invert. Hit delete and deselect. Delete the white square background 1 layer.
Highlight the square frame 1 layer. Select, float and defloat. Open up a light colored paper of choice. Resize by 69%, smartsize. Copy and paste onto your canvas. Position within the selection. Selections > invert. Hit delete and deselect. Give the layer a drop shadow of H and V 0, Opacity 65, Blur 6.00. Delete the black square frame 1 layer.
Highlight the square background 2 layer. Select, float and defloat. Open up the last moonlight paper. Go to image > mirror. Resize by 35%, smartsize. Copy and paste as a new layer onto your canvas. Positon to your liking within the selection. Selections > invert. Hit delete and deselect. Delete the white sqaure background 2 layer.
Highlight the square frame 2 layer. Select, float and defloat. Open up a light colored paper and resize by 69%, smartsize. Copy and paste as a new layer onto your canvas. Position within the selection. Selections > invert. Hit delete and deselect. Give the layer a drop shadow of H and V 0, Opacity 65, Blur 6.00. Delete the black square frame 2 layer.
Open up the star string from the kit. Resize by 75%, smartsize. Copy and paste onto your canvas. Highlight your big moonlight paper layer. Select, float and defloat. Highlight your star string layer. Selections > invert. Hit delete and deselect. Apply gradient glow, same settings to the star string. Duplicate. Go to image > mirror. Then, image > free rotate. Position one of the star strings towards the top of the picture, and the other towards the bottom. Drag both star layers beneath your frame (see my tag for reference)
Open up the ct black pearl on a string element from the kit. Resize by 45%, smartsize. Copy and paste onto your canvas. Apply gradient glow same settings as earlier. Duplicate the black pearl string. Go to image > mirror. Then, image > flip. Position to your liking on the black stripes. Drag both black pearl strings beneath your vertical rectangle layer. (see my tag for reference)
Highlight your top layer. Open up tag2 from the kit. Resize by 25%, smartsize. Copy and paste as a new layer onto your canvas Give it a drop shadow of H and V 0, Opacity 50, Blur 5.00. Duplicate the tag. Go to image > mirror. Position one on each of the square frames.
Open up a small bow of choice. Resize by 25%, smartsize. Copy and paste as a new layer onto your canvas. Give it a drop shadow of H and V 0, Opacity 50, Blur 5.00. Duplicate. Go to image > mirror. Position them at the top of the star tags.
Open up a blossom of choice. Resize by 10%, smartsize. Copy and paste as a new layer onto your canvas. Give it a drop shadow of H and V 0, Opacity 50, Blur 4.00. Duplicate the blossom. Go to image > mirror. Position them on yor 2 rectangles layer to your liking.
Open up the butterfly from the kit. Resize by 20%, smartsize. Copy and paste as a new layer onto your canvas. Give it a drop shadow of H and V 0, Opacity 50, Blur 5.00. Position it to your liking on the large rectangle frame.
Open up a star of choice. Resize by 20%, smartsize. Copy and paste as a new layer onto your canvas. Give it the same drop shadow you gave the butterfly. Position to your liking on the large frame.
Open up one of the tags that don't have a string. Resize by 95%, smartsize. Copy and paste as a new layer onto your canvas. Go to image > free rotate. Rotate right by 15.00. Give the star a drop shadow of H 5, V -5, Opacity 60, Blur 8.00. Duplicate the star and go to image > mirror. Position them as in my tag above and drag both layers to right above your white background. (see my tag for reference)
Add any other embellishments of choice.
Hide your white background. Merge all visible layers together. Resize the merged layer by 85%, bicubic.
Unhide and highlight your white background. Open up a paper of choice from the kit. Copy and paste as a new layer onto your canvas. Apply Vix's Mask with the following settings:
Source Luminance
Fit to Canvas
Hide all Mask.
Delete the mask from your layer palette. Answer yes to the pop up box and merge the group. Resize the mask by 90%, smartize. Apply FM Tile Tools Blend Emboss with the default settings. Give the mask a drop shadow of H and V 0, Opacity 25, Blur 5.00.
Open up your tube. Resize as necessary, bicubic. Copy and paste your tube as a new layer onto your canvas. Apply Xero Greytinter, same settings as before. Give your tube a drop shadow of H 7, V 5, Opacity 65, Blur 10.00. Position the tube to your liking.
Crop and resize to your liking.
Add your copyright info, watermark and text. If you are not animating, save as JPG or PNG.
If you are animating, highlight the merged layer. Apply Xenofex 2 Electrify with the following settings:
Copy merged. Open up Animation Shop. Paste as a new animation in AS.
Back to PSP. Go to edit > undo electrify. Apply electrify again, but hit the random seed button. Copy merged and paste after your current frame in AS.
Repeat the above steps 3 more times for a total of 5 frames.
Optimize and save as gif.
