Gorjuss Christmas

This tutorial was written by me on 20 October 2008. Any similarities to other tutorials is purely coincidental.
Supplies Needed:
3 tubes of choice. I am using the adorable artwork of Suzanne Woolcott. If you wish to use her artwork, you must purchase the appropriate license here
Scrapkit. I am using the Wonderfully christmas filled kit O Christmas Tree by Candy's Treats. If you wish to purchase the kit you can here. Don't forget to check her blog for the freebie!!

Font of choice. I am using CG Chaplin. (pay font)
No outside plugins needed
Ok! Let's begin! Open up the template and delete the credits. Highlight the circle frame layer. Go to Selections > Select All. Selections > Float. Defloat. Open up a paper of choice from the scrapkit and paste as a new layer onto your canvas. Go to Selections > Invert. Hit delete on your keyboard. Deselect. Delete the gray circle frame layer.
Highlight the circle frame fill layer. Selections, float and defloat. Open up another paper of choice from the kit. Paste onto your canvas, and go to selections > invert. Hit delete on your keyboard. Deselect. Give this layer a drop shadow of H and V 0, Opacity 50, Blur 5.00. Delete the gray circle fill layer.
Open up your main tube. Resize if necessary bicubic. Paste your tube as a new layer onto your canvas. Position your tube to your liking within the circle. Give your tube a drop shadow of H and V 0, Opacity 65, Blur 8.00. Duplicate your tube. Drag one of your tube layers above your frame layer. (you should have one tube layer right above the frame and one right below it. Highlight the paper circle fill layer. Select, float and defloat. Go to Selections > Invert. Highlight the bottom tube layer. Grab your eraser tool, size 40, opacity 100. Erase any parts of the tube that you don't want hanging out of the circle. Deselect. Highlight the top tube layer and do the same.
Highlight the right star frame layer. Select, float and defloat. Open up a paper of choice from the kit and paste onto your canvas. Selections > Invert. Hit delete on your keyboard. Deselect. Give the layer the same drop shadow of H and V 0, Opacity 50, Blur 5.00. Delete the gray star frame layer.
Highlight the right star fill layer. Select, float and defloat. Open up a contrasting paper of choice. Resize 69%, smartsize. Copy and paste onto your canvas. Selections > Invert. Hit delete on your keyboard. Do NOT deselect.
Open up another tube of choice. Resize if necessary, bicubic. Copy and paste onto your canvas and position to your liking within the selection. Hit delete on your keyboard. Deselect. Give the tube a drop shadow of H and V 0, Opacity 60, Blur 6.00. Lower the opacity of the tube to 67%. Delete the gray star fill layer.
Repeat the above steps with the left star layers.
Highlight the rectangle cutout frame layer. Select, float and defloat. Copy and paste a paper of choice onto your canvas. Selections > Invert. Hit delete on your keyboard. Deselect. Give it a drop shadow of H and V 0, Opacity 50, Blur 3.00. Delete the white rectangle cutout frame layer.
Highlight the rectangle frame layer. Select, float and defloat. Copy the same paper that you used last, and paste as a new layer onto your canvas. Selections > Invert. Hit delete on your keyboard. Deselect. Give the layer a drop shadow of H and V 0, Opacity 50, Blur 5.00. Delete the gray rectangle layer.
Highlight the rectangle fill layer. Select, float and defloat. Open up a paper of choice (preferably a solid colored paper) and paste onto your canvas. Selections > Invert. Hit delete on your keyboard. Do NOT deselect.
Open up the snowflakes from the freebies. Resize by 15%, smartsize. Copy and paste onto your canvas. Position the snowflakes in the left hand corner of the rectangle. Hit delete. Deselect. Duplicate the snowflakes. Go to Image > Mirror. Position the mirrored snowflakes in the right corner of the rectangle. Delete the gray rectangle layer.
Highlight the rectangle cutout fill layer. Select, float and defloat. Open up a snowflake paper of choice. Paste onto your canvas. Selections > Invert. Hit delete on your keyboard. Deselect. Delete the gray rectangle fill layer. Highlight the paper cut out fill layer.
Grab your magic wand tool. Click inside the rectangular opening in the cut out frame layer. Go to Selections > Modify > Expand by 6.00. Open up one of the bears. Resize by 50%, smartsize. Copy and paste onto your canvas, positioning the bear within the selection to your liking. Selections > Invert. Hit delete on your keyboard. Deselect. Give the bear a drop shadow of H and V 0, Opacity 50, Blur 4.00.
Open up a glossy ball of choice. Resize by 18%, smartsize. Go to Adjust > Sharpness > Unsharp Mask, Radius 5, strength 20, Clipping 1. Copy and paste onto your canvas. Position it in the left cutout circle. Duplicate and mirror. Position it in the right cutout circle.
Highlight your white background. Open up the candy cane line from the scrapkit. Resize by 55%, smartsize. Paste onto your canvas and position in the space between the circle and the rectangle. Give the candy canes a drop shadow of H and V 0, Opacity 50, Blur 4.00.
Highlight your top layer. Open up a bow of choice. Resize by 15% smartsize. Paste onto your canvas, and position where the left star and circle meet. (see my tag for reference) Give te bow the same drop shadow you gave the candy canes. Duplicate the bow and mirror. Position on the right star.
Add any other embellishments of your choosing. I added a flower, a couple of buttons, and a bow from the freebie. :-)
Open up the baubles. Resize by 60%, smartsize. Copy and paste onto your canvas. Position so the they look as if they are hanging from the bottom of the rectangle. Give them the same drop shadow you gave your bow.
Open up the string 3. Resize by 20%, smartsize. Paste onto your canvas. Position it over one of the ends of the baubles string. Duplicate and mirror. Position the duplicated string over the other end of the baubles string. Give both strings the same drop shadow you gave the baubles. Hide your white background and merge your visible layers.
Highlight your white background. Choose a light color from your tube. Add a new raster layer. Floodfill the new layer with this color. Apply the Vix Mask. Delete the mask, answer yes and merge the group. Resize the mask layer by 70%, smartsize. Duplicate the mask and mirror. Position them to your liking.
Open up a sequins of choice. Resize by 20%, smartsize. Paste onto your canvas. Duplicate 2x for a total 3 sequins layers. Position to your liking.
Crop and resize to your liking. Add your copyright info, text and watermark. Merge all of your layers together. If you are not animating, you are done.
If you are animating, grab your magic wand tool, tolerance set to 40, feather 6.00. Click in the middle of the first bauble, so that that there is a "loose" selection around it:
Go to Adjust > Brightness/Contrast > Brightness/Contrast. Apply with the following settings:
Deselect. Copy. Open up Animation Shop and paste as a new animation. Back to PSP. Go to Edit >Undo 3x. Grab your magic wand tool again. Click inside of the next bauble and apply Brightness/Contrast again. Copy and paste after thee current frame in AS.
Repeat the above step, until you have done all of the baubles. You should have a total of 8 frames when you are done. Select all of the frames (CTRL+A) Change the frame properties to 20.
Optimize and save as gif.
