PostHeaderIcon Blue Angel

This tutorial was written by me on 24 December 2008.  Any similarities to other tutorials is purely coincidental.
 
Supplies Needed:
 
I am using the stunning work of Jessica Dougherty.  I got this tube when CILM was still open.  You can find her at CDO now.
Scrapkit.  I am uisng the exquisite kit Blue Christmas by Designs by Ali.  If you wish to purchase this scrap, you can here.

White Flare HERE  (put in your picture tubes folder)
 
Font of choice.  I used Gwendolyn (pay font)

Eyecandy 5 Nature - Icicles and Snow Drift

Ok!  Let's get started!  Open up a new transparent image, 700 x 700.  Floodfill with white.  Open up a wreathe of choice from the kit.  Resize by 65%, smartsize.  Copy and paste onto your canvas.  Apply Gradient Glow with the following settings:

Give the wreathe a drop shadow of H and V 0, Opacity 20, Blur 12.00.
 
Open up a bell from the kit.  Resize by 75%, smartsize.  Copy and paste onto your canvas.  Position as in my tag above.  Go to selections > select all.  Selections > float.  Selections > defloat.  Open up a paper of choice from the kit.  Resize by 69%, smartsize.  Coyp and paste onto your canvas.  Position within the selection.  Go to selections > invert.  Hit delete.  Do NOT deselect!
 
Open up the Blue Trees Image.  Resize by 65%, smartsize.  Copy and paste onto your canvas.  Position to your liking within the selection.  Hit delete.  Don't deselect!!
 
Open up your tube.  Mirror if you wish.  Resize as necessary, bicubic.  Copy and paste onto your canvas.  Position to your liking within the selection.  Hit delete.  Deselect (CTRL+D).  Highlight the image layer.  Change the blend mode to Overlay.  Apply AAA Textures with the following settings:

Highlight your tube layer.  Change the blend mode to Luminance.  Give the tube a drop shadow of H and V 0, Opacity 50, Blur 8.00.
 
Hide your white background, and your wreathe layer.  Merge your visible layers together.  Apply Gradient Glow, same settings as before, to the merged layer.
 
Grab your freehand selection tool, type - point to point, feather set at 0.00.  Highlight your wreathe layer.  Draw out a circlish shape around the middle opening of the wreathe like this:

Open up a paper from the kit.  Resize by 69%, smartsize.  Copy and paste onto your canvas.  Selections > invert.  Hit delete.  Don't deselect yet!!
 
Open up the Blue Trees Image again.  Resize by 80%, smartsize.  Copy and paste onto your canvas.  Position so that the trees show through the opening of the wreathe.  Hit delete and deselect.  Drag your wreathe layer above your paper and image layers.  Highlight the image layer.  Change the blend mode to Luminance (legacy)
 
Open up hanging bauble from the kit.  Resize by 35%, smartsize.  Copy and paste onto your canvas.  Give it a drop shadow of H and V 0, Opacity 50, Blur 6.00.  Position to your liking on the wreathe.
 
Open up a gem bow of choice.  Resize by 20%, smartsize.  Copy and paste onto your canvas.  Give it the same drop shadow you gave your bauble.  Position at the top of the bauble.
 
Open up a gem flower of choice.  Resize by 20%, smartsize.  Copy and paste onto your canvas.  Give it a drop shadow of H and V 0, Opacity 50, Blur 5.00.  Postion to your liking on the bell.
 
Open up 3 snowflakes of choice.  Resize one by 15%, another by 18%, and the last by 20%, smartsize.  Copy and paste onto your canvas.  Give them all a drop shadow of H 1, V 1, Opacity 35, Blur 1.00.  Postion them to your liking on the wreathe.
 
Open up 2 flowers of choice.  Resize one by 20%, smartsize.  Resize the other by 15%, smartsize.  Copy and paste onto your canvas.  Give both flowers a drop shadow of H and V 0, Opacity 50, Blur 5.00.  Apply Snow Drift to the smaller flower with the following settings:

Duplicate the smaller flower.  Position the flowers to your liking on the wreathe.
 
Open up a paper of choice.  Make it your background on your layer palette, foreground null.  Grab your preset shape tool, rectangle.  Draw out a longish medium sized rectangle.  Convert to a raster layer. 
 
Open up a ribbon of choice.  Resize to fit your rectangle.  Copy and paste onto your canvas.  Highlight your rectangle layer.  Select, float and defloat.  Highlight your ribbon layer.  Hit delete.  (position the ribbon higher on your rectangle so the long ends of the bow are not outside of the selection).  Deselect.  Merge the rectangle and bow layers together.  Resize it by about 50%, smartsize.  Apply mura meister copies with the following settings:

Apply Gradient Glow with the following settings:

Drag the layer below your wreathe layer.
 
Open up a snowflake mess of choice.  Resize by 50%, smartsize.  Copy and paste onto your canvas.  Apply Eyecandy Icicles with the following settings:

Go to adjust > sharpness > sharpen.  Give the layer a drop shadow of H 1, V 1, Opacity 35, Blur 1.00.  Duplicate and position them to your liking.
 
Add any other embellishments of your choosing.
 
Hide your white background and merge your visible layers. 
 
Open up your tube.  Resize as necessary, bicubic.  Copy and paste onto your canvas.  Apply Gradient Glow with the following settings;

Give your tube a drop shadow of H and V 0, Opacity 35, Blur 10.00.
 
Crop and resize to your liking.
 
Add your copyright info, watermark and text.  If you are not animating, save as JPG or PNG.
 
If you are animating, grab your picture tube tool.  Add a new raster layer to your working image.  Find the white flare in your drop down menu and change the size of the flare to 40.  On the new layer, add flares to where you want them.  Copy merged.
 
Open up Animation Shop.  Paste as a new animation in AS.
 
Back to PSP.  Add another raster layer to your image.  Put flares where you want them, using the first layer as reference so, you don't put them in the same place.  Delete the first flare layer.  Copy merged.  Paste after the current frame in AS.
 
Repeat the above step one more time for a total of 3 frames.
 
Select all frames.  (CTRL+A)  Change the frame properties to 16.
 
Optimize and save as gif.
