PostHeaderIcon Good Night Moon

This tutorial was written by me on 16 February 2009.  Any similarities to other tutorials is purely coincidental.
 
Supplies Needed:
 
Tube of choice.  I am using the fantastical artwork of Zindy S.D. Nielsen.  This is a license free art tube.  For more information, go to her site here.
 
Scrapkit.  I am using the gorgeous scrap Good Night Moon by Just a Girl's Designs.  If you wish to purchase this kit, you can here.  Thank you, Tamara!!

Diamond tube
 
Font of choice.  I used Mea Culpa (pay font).

Ok!  Let's get started!  Open up my template.  Duplicate by holding down shift + d.  Close the original.  Delete the credit info layer.
 
Highlight celestial circles layer.  Go to selections > select all.  Selections > float.  Selections > defloat.  Open up a paper from the kit.  Resize by 68%, smartsize.  Copy and paste onto your canvas.  Go to selections > invert.  Hit delete on your keyboard.  Deselect (CTRL+D).  Drag the paper layer beneath the celestial circles layer.  Change the blend mode of the celestial circles layer to Screen.  Merge the paper and the celestial circles layer together.  Give it a drop shadow of H 1, V -1, Opacity 35, Blur 3.00.
 
Highlight the stars swirl layer.  Select, float and defloat.  Open up a paper from the kit.  Resize by 68%, smartsize.  Copy and paste onto your canvas.  Selections > invert.  Hit delete and deselect.  Drag the paper layer beneath the star swirls layer.  Change the blend mode of the stars swirl layer to Luminance (Legacy)  Merge the paper and the stars swirl layer together.  Give it a drop shadow of H and V 1, Opacity 55, Blur 2.00.
 
Highlight the frame fill layer.  Select, float and defloat.  Open up a paper from the kit.  Resize, 68%, smartsize.  Copy and paste onto your canvas.  Selections > invert.  Hit delete.  Deselect.  Delete the gray frame fill layer.
 
Highlight the frame layer.  If you are using a dark colored paper, leave as is.  If you are using a light colored paper, go to adjust > brightness/contrast > brightness/contrast.  Apply with the following settings:

Select, float and defloat the frame.  Open up your chosen paper.  Resize by 68%, smartsize.  Copy and paste onto your canvas.  Selections > invert.  Hit delete on your keyboard and deselect.  Change the blend mode of your paper to Soft Light.  Merge the paper and the frame together.
 
Open up your tube.  Resize as necessary, bicubic.  Apply Porcelain with the following settings:

Go to adjust > sharpness > unsharp mask.  Apply with the following settings:
 
Radius - 5
Strength - 35
Clipping - 1
 
Position your tube to your liking within the frame.  Give it a drop shadow of H and V 0, Opacity 60, Blur 10.00.  Duplicate your tube.  Drag the bottom tube layer to right below your frame.  (the other should be right above it.)
 
Highlight your frame layer.  Grab your magic wand tool, tolerance set at 0.00, feather set at 0.00  Click inside the empty space of the frame.  Go to selections > modify > expand by 3.00.  Selections > invert.
 
Highlight your bottom tube layer.  Grab your eraser tool, size 35, opacity 100.  Carefully erase the part of the tube you don't want hanging out of the frame.  Deselect.  Highlight your top tube layer and do the same.
 
Merge your tube layers and your frame together.
 
Open up a flower from the kit.  Resize by 25%, smartsize.  Copy and paste onto your canvas.  Give it a drop shadow of H and V 1, Opacity 65, Blur 2.00.  Duplicate the flower 3 times for a total of 4.  Position them on the celestial circles as in my tag above.
 
Open up the butterfly deco.  Resize by 40%, smartsize.  Go to adjust > sharpen.  Give it a drop shadow of H 1, V 0, Opacity 60, Blur 1.00.  Position at the bottom of the frame. (see my tag for reference)
 
Open up the Moon and Star Dangler.  Resize by 20%, smartsize.  Go to adjust > sharpen.  Copy and paste onto your canvas.  Give it a drop shadow of H -1, V 0, Opacity 60, Blur 3.00.  Duplicate.  Go to image > mirror.  Position at the top of the tag. (see my tag for reference)
 
Open up the Moon and Star Danger from the kit.  Resize by 20%, smartsize.  Go to adjust > sharpen.  Copy and paste onto your canvas.  Give it a drop shadow of H and V 0, Opacity 45, Blur 2.00.  Duplicate.  Go to image > mirror.  Positoin at the bottom of the tag (see mine for reference)
 
Open up the rafia flower border.  Resize by 20%, smartsize.  Go to adjust > sharpen.  Copy and paste onto your canvas.  Go to image > free rotate.  Rotate right by 90.00.  Give it a drop shadow of H and V 1, Opacity 60, Blur 2.00.  Duplicate.  Go to image > mirror.  Position on either side of the frame.  (see my tag for reference)
 
Open up an eyelet fastener of choice.  Resize by 20%, smartsize.  Copy and paste onto your canvas.  Give it a drop shadow of H and V 0, Opacity 65, Blur 4.00.  Duplicate.  Go to image > mirror.  Position at the sides of the frame (see my tag for reference)
 
Open up the diamond.  Copy and paste onto your canvas.  Duplicate 3 times.  Position them in the rivets of the eyelet fastener.
 
Open up a the moon or star bling from the kit.  Resize by 45%, smartsize.  Go to adjust > sharpen.  Copy and paste onto your canvas.  Give it a drop shadow of H and V 1, Opacity 60, Blur 2.00.  Duplicate the bling.  Place one right beneath the other.  Drag both blings beneath your star swirls layer.
 
Add any other embellishments of your choosing.
 
Highlight your white background.  Open up a paper from the kit.  Don't resize.  Copy and paste onto your canvas.  Apply GG_Mask 21 with the following settings:
 
Source Luminance
 
Fit to Canvas
 
Hide all mask
 
Delete the mask, answer yes to the popup box and merge the group.  Give the mask a drop shadow of H and V 1, Opacity 65, Blur 2.00,.  Go to adjust > add/remove noise > add noise:
 
Random and Monochrome checked
 
Value 10
 
Duplicate the mask.  Go to image > mirror.  Position as in my tag above.
 
Highlight your white background.  Open up another paper from the kit.  Copy and paste onto your canvas.  Apply Becky Mask 23, same settings as before.
 
Delete the mask, answer yes and merge the group.  Resize the becky mask by 95%, smartsize.
 
Crop and resize to your liking.
 
Add your copyright info, watermark and your text.  If you are not animating, save as JPG or PNG.
 
If you are animating, highlight your celestial circles layer.  Apply Texture Noise with the following settings:

Copy merged.  Open up Animation Shop.  Paste as a new animation in AS.
 
Back to Paint Shop Pro.  Go to edit > undo texture noise.  Apply texture noise again, but this time hit the random seed button.  Copy merged.  Paste after your current frame in AS.
 
Repeat the above steps 3 more times for a total of 5 frames.
 
Select all frames (CTRL+A)  Change the frame properties to 13.
 
Optimize and save as gif.
