Golden New Year

This tutorial was written by me on 27 December 2008. Any similarities to other tutorials is purely coincidental.
Supplies Needed:
2 tubes of choice. I am using the stunning artwork of Jennifer Janesko. I purchased this tube when CILM was still open. You can find her at CDO now.
Scrapkit. I am using the elegant kit New Years Dream by Designs by Ali. If you wish to purchase this exquisite kit, you can here. Thank you, Ali!!

Font of choice. I used 1 Snappy DNA. I don't remember if this is a pay font or not, so I can't supply.

Let's get started! Open up my template. Duplicate by holding down shfit + d. Close the original. Delete the credit info layer.
Highlight the ovals layer. Go to selections > select all. Selections > float. Selections > defloat. Open up a paper from the kit. Don't resize. Copy and paste as a new layer onto your canvas. Go to selections > invert. Hit delete on your keyboard. Deselect (CTRL+D) Give the layer a drop shadow of H and V 0, Opacity 65, Blur 8.00. Delete the gray ovals layer.
Highlight the middle squigglies layer. Select, float and defloat. Open up another paper from the kit. Resize by 79%, smartsize. Copy and paste onto your canvas. Selections > invert. Hit delete and deselect. Give the layer a drop shadow of H and V 0, Opacity 65, Blur 6.00. Delete the gray middle squigglies layer.
Highlight the 2 squigglies layer. Select, float and defloat. Open up a paper from the kit and resize by 79%, smartsize. Copy and paste onto your canvas. Selections > invert. Hit delete and deselect. Give the layer a drop shadow of H and V 0, Opacity 65, Blur 6.00. Delete the gray 2 squigglies layer.
Highlight the shape layer. Select, float and defloat. Open up a paper from the kit. Resize by 79%, smartsize. Copy and paste as a new layer onto your canvas. Selections > invert. Hit delete and deselect. Give the layer a drop shadow of H and V 0, Opacity 65, Blur 8.00. Apply Xero Bad Dream with the following settings:
Delete the gray shape layer.
Highlight the bracket layer. Select, float and defloat. Open up a paper from the kit. Resize by 65%, smartsize. Copy and paste onto your canvas. Selections > invert. Hit delete and deselect. Give the layer a drop shadow of H and V 0, Opacity 65, Blur 10.00. Delete the black bracket layer.
Highlight the bracket oval layer. Select, float and defloat. Open up a paper from the kit. Resize by 65%, smartsize. Copy and paste onto your canvas. Selections > invert. Hit delete. Do NOT deselect!!
Open up your first tube of choice. Resize as necessary, bicubic. Copy and paste onto your canvas. Position to your liking within the selection. Hit delete and deselect. Change the blend mode of the tube to Luminance. Lower the opacity to about 50%. Apply FM Tile Tools Blend Emboss with the following settings:
Give the tube a drop shadow of H and V 0, Opacity 60, Blur 8.00. Highlight the paper oval layer and apply Xero Bad Dream same settings as before. Now apply Eyecandy 5 Gradient Glow with the following settings:
Delete the white oval layer.
Highlight the strips layer. Select, float and defloat. Open up a paper from the kit. Resize by 65%, smartsize. Copy and paste onto your canvas. Selections > invert. Hit delete and deselect. Give the layer a drop shadow of H and V 0, Opacity 75, Blur 3.00. Delete the white strips layer. Drag the paper strips below your paper oval layer.
Open up a ribbon from the kit. Resize by 25%, smartsize. Copy and paste onto your canvas. Give it a drop shadow of H and V 0, Opacity 65, Blur 5.00. Duplicate the ribbon. Go to image > mirror. Then, image > flip. Position the ribbons to your liking on your shape layer. (see my tag for reference)
Open up a balloon element of choice. Resize by 20%, smartsize. Copy and paste onto your canvas. Give it a drop shadow of H and V 0, Opacity 65, Blur 5.00. Position on the left point of your bracket. Duplicate the balloon. Go to image > mirror. Position on the right point of your bracket. (see my tag for reference)
Open up a bow from the kit. Resize by 15%, smartsize. Copy and paste onto your canvas. Give it a drop shadow of H and V 0, Opacity 65, Blur 5.00. Duplicate the bow. Position on on the point of the bracket and the other on the bottom point.
Open up a flower from the kit. Resize by 15%, smartsize. Copy and paste onto your canvas. Give it a drop shadow of H and V 0, Opacity 65, Blur 5.00. Duplicate the flower. Go to image > mirror. Then, image > flip. Position them to your liking on the shape layer.
Open up a glasses of choice. Resize by 20%, smartsize. Copy and paste onto your canvas. Give it a drop shadow of H 1, V 0, Opacity 60, Blur 2.00. Duplicate the glasses. Go to image > mirror. Position as in my tag above.
Open up a party element of choice. Resize by 15%, smartsize. Copy and paste onto your canvas. Give it a drop shadow of H 1, V 0, Opacity 60, Blur 2.00. Duplicate the party element 3 x, for a total of 4. Mirror 2 of the party elements. Positon them to your liking behind the ovals.
Open up a doodle of choice. Resize by 35%, smartsize. Copy and paste onto your canvas. Give it a drop shadow of H and V 0, Opacity 60, Blur 3.00. Duplicate the doodle. Mirror the duplicated doodle. Now, flip each of the doodles. Position to your liking behind the shape layer. (see my tag above for reference)
Open up your main tube. Resize as necessary, bicubic. Copy and paste onto your canvas. Give it a drop shadow of H and V 0, Opacity 65, Blur 12.00. Position to your liking.
Add any other embellishments of your choosing.
Highlight your white background. Open up a paper of choice from the kit. Don't resize and paste as a new layer onto your canvas. Apply the mask with the following settings:
Source Luminance
Fit to Canvas
Hide all mask
Delete the mask, answer yes and merge the group. Resize the mask by 90%, smartsize. Apply Xero Bad Dream, same settings as earlier. Give the mask a drop shadow of H 1, V 0, Opacity 25, Blur 3.00.
Crop and resize to your liking.
Add your copyright info, watermark and your text. If you are not animating, save as JPG or PNG.
If you are, highlight your bracket oval layer. Apply Eyecandy 5 Texture Noise with the following settings:
Copy merged. Open up Animation Shop and paste as a new animation in AS.
Back to Paint Sho Pro. Go to edit > undo texture noise. Apply texture noise again, but this time hit the random seed button. Copy merged and paste after the current frame in AS.
Repeat the above steps 3 more times for a total of 5 frames.
Select all frames (CTRL+A) Change the frame properties to 15.
Optimize and save as gif.
