Flight of the Fae

This tutorial was written by me on 27 of February 2009. Any similarities to other tutorials is purely coincidental.
Supplies Needed:
Tube of choice. I am using the adorable artwork of Molly Harrison. I bought this tube when CILM was still open. You can find her tubes at CDO now.
Scrapkit. I am using the delightful scrap Berry Delight by Grunge and Glitter Scraps. Please check out her blog for awesome kits and other goodies!

Font of choice. I used Bang LET Plain, which you can download here.

Ok! Let's get started! Open up my template. Duplicate by holding down shift + d. Close the original. Delete the credit info layer.
Highlight the flower doodle layer. Go to selections > select all. Selections > float. Selections > defloat. Open up a paper from the kit. Resize by 80%, smartsize. Copy and paste onto your canvas. Go to selections > invert. Hit delete on your keyboard. Deselect (CTRL+D) Apply Xero Bad Dream with the following settings:
Give the layer a drop shadow of H and V 1, Opacity 65, Blur 3.00. Delete the gray flower doodle layer.
Highlight the cloud shape layer. Select, float and defloat. Open up a paper from the kit. Resize by 78%, smartsize. Copy and paste onto your canvas. Selections > invert. Hit delete. Don't deselect!
Open up the square ribbon from the kit. Resize by 50%, smartsize. Copy and paste onto your canvas. Position to your liking. Hit delete. Don't deselect yet!
Add a new raster layer. Go to selections > invert. Higlight your new layer. Apply Mura Meister Clouds with the following settings:
Deselect. Drag the cloud layer beneath your ribbon layer. Highlight your ribbon layer. Give it a drop shadow of H and V 0, Opacity 60, Blur 4.00.
Highlight your paper cloud layer. Apply Xero Radiance with the following settings:
Give it a drop shadow of H and V 0, Opacity 70, Blur 7.00. Delete the gray cloud shape.
Highlight your paper cloud. Open up the Rainbow mistee flowers. Grab your freehand selection tool, type point to point, feather set at 0. Select around a bouquet you would like to use. Copy and paste onto your canvas. Give it a drop shadow of H 1, V 0, Opacity 45, Blur 2.00. Position to your liking. Repeat these same steps with 2 other bouquets. Merge the Rainbow Coffi flowers together. Change the blend mode of the layer to Screen. Duplicate the layer.
Open up the rainbow coffi file. Select around a humming bird. Copy and paste onto your canvas. Give it a drop shadow of H -1, V 0, Opacity 40, Blur 2.00. Duplicate the bird. Go to image > mirror. Position them to your liking.
Open up a flower from the kit. Resize by 10%, smartsize. Copy and paste onto your canvas. Give it a drop shadow of H and V 0, Opacity 65, Blur 4.00. Duplicate the flower 3 times, for a total of 4. Position them to your liking.
Open up another flower from the kit. Resize by 8%, smartsize. Copy and paste onto your canvas. Give it the same drop shadow you gave the other flower. Duplicate. Position them to your liking.
Highlight your white background. Open up the fuzzy flowers from the kit. Resize by 45%, smartsize. Copy and paste onto your canvas. Go to image > free rotate. Rotate right by 45.00 degreed, both boxes unchecked. Give it a drop shadow of H and V 0, Opacity 50, Blur 6.00. Duplicate the fuzzy flowers. Go to image > mirror. Then, image > flip. Position them as in my tag above.
Open up the GG_Flower Doodles. Decorate your tag with them to your liking.
Add any other embellishments of your choosing.
Highlight your white background. Add a new raster layer. Floodfill the new layer with a light color from your tag or tube. Choose a medium dark color from your tube. Apply Mura Meister Cloud with the following settings, using your chosen color:
Apply WSL_Mask134 with the following settings:
Source Luminance
Fit to Canvas
Hide all Mask
Delete the mask from your layer palette. Answer yes and merge the group. Apply Xenofex 2 Crumple with the following settings:
Apply Constellation to the mask with the following settings:
Now apply FM Tile Tools with the following settings:
Open up your tube. Resize as necessary, bicubic. Copy and paste onto your canvas. Apply Xero Radiance with the following settings:
Go to adjust > sharpness > unsharp mask. Apply with the following settings:
Radius - 5
Strength - 25
Clipping 1
Give your tube a drop shadow of H -4, V 2, Opacity 60, Blur 7.00. Arrange to your liking.
Crop and resize to your liking.
Add your copyright info, watermark and your text. If you are not animating, save as JPG or PNG.
If you are animating, highlight your paper cloud layer. Apply Texture noise with the following settings:
Highlight your tube layer. Apply Texture Noise, same settings. Copy merged. Open up Animation Shop. Paste as a new animation in AS.
Back to Paint Shop Pro. Go to edit > undo texture noise. Edit > undo layer selection. Edit > undo texture noise. Apply Texture Noise to the paper cloud layer, same settings, but this time hit the random seed button. Highlight your tube layer. Apply texture noise. Copy merged. Paste after your current frame in AS.
Repeat the above steps 3 more times for a total of 5 frames.
Select all frames (CTRL+A). Change the frame properties to 13.
Optimize and save as gif.
