Feel the Heat

This tutorial was written by me on 10 April 2009. Any similarities to other tutorials is purely coincidental.

Font of choice. I used PP_Hips20s (pay font)
Plugins:
Xero Filters - Bad Dream
Eyecandy 5 Nature - Fire
Animation Shop (opt)

Ok! Let's get started! Open up a new transaprent image 750 x 750. Floodfill with white.
Open up Flame 11 from the kit. Resize by 15%, smartsize. Copy and paste as a new layer onto your canvas. Apply Mura Meister Copies with the following settings:
Resize the encircled flames by 60%, smartsize. Move it towards the left of your canvas. Duplicate. Go to image > mirror. Your flame circles should be side by side almost touching.
Grab your preshape tool, circle, foreground set at null, background set to a paper of choice. Draw out a circle that fits within the flames circle. Convert to raster layer.
Select, float and defloat your paper circle. Open up Fire Poser 1 from the kit. Resize by 30%, bicubic. Copy and paste as a new layer onto your canvas. Position to your liking within the selection. Go to selections > invert. Hit delete and deselect. Apply Xero Bad Dream to your poser with the following settings:
Give the poser a drop shadow of H and V 0, Opacity 50, Blur 4.00.
Highlight the paper layer. Duplicate. Go to image > mirror. Position beneath the flame circle layer.
Highlight your poser layer. Duplicate. Go to image > mirror. Position on top of the right paper layer.
Open up a leaf from the kit. Resize by 18%, smartsize. Copy and paste onto your canvas. Apply Mura Meister Copies, same settings as before. Give it a drop shadow of H 1, V 0, Opacity 65, Blur 2.00. Drag it so it is right above your white background layer.
Open up bush 8 from the kit. Resize by 35%, smartsize. Copy and paste onto your canvas. Apply Xero Bad Dream with the following settings;
Go to image > free rotate. Rotate left by 35.00, both boxes unchecked. Go to adjust > sharpen. Give it a drop shadow of H -2, V 0, Opacity 55, Blur 3.00. Position it behind the left paper layer. Duplicate. Go to image > mirror. Duplicate the mirrored bush. Go to image > flip. Duplicate the flipped bush. Go to image > mirror. Position the bush layers as in my tag above.
Highlight your white background. Open up Flame 10 from the kit. Resize by 45%, smartsize. Copy and paste onto your canvas. Apply Xero Bad Dream, same settings as earlier. Give it a drop shadow of H 2, V 0, Opacity 55, Blur 3.00. Duplicate. Go to image > mirror. Position so that they peek out a bit under the encircled flames layers.
Highlight your white background. Open up a flower from the kit. Resize by 45%, smartsize. Copy and paste onto your canvas. Give it a drop shadow of H and V 0, Opacity 60, Blur 6.00. Duplicate. Go to image > mirror. Duplicate the mirrored flower. Go to image > flip. Duplicate the flipped flower. Go to image > mirror. Position the flowers as in my tag above.
Hide your white background. Merge your visible layers together. Resize your merged layer by 85%, smartsize. Go to adjust > sharpness > unsharp mask. Apply with Radius 5, Clipping 1, Strength 15.
Highlight your white background. Open up a tree from the kit. Resize by 45%, smartsize. Copy and paste onto your canvas. Apply Bad Dream, same settings as earlier. Give it a drop shadow of H 1, V 0, Opacity 45, Blur 2.00. Duplicate the tree. Go to image > mirror. Duplicate the mirrored tree. Go to image > flip. Duplicate the flipped tree. Go to image > mirror. Position the trees as in my tag above. Merge the 4 tree layers together.
Highlight your white backround. Open up a paper from the kit. Copy and paste as a new layer onto your canvas. Apply Vix Mask with the following settings:
Source Luminance
Fit to Canvas
Hide all Mask.
Delete the mask, answer yes and merge the group. Resize the mask by 70%, smartsize. Give it a drop shadow of H 1, V 0, Opacity 45, Blur 2.00. Go to image > flip. Duplicate the mask. Go to image > mirror. Position the mask layers as in my tag above.
Highlight your top layer. Open up Fire Poser 3 from the kit. Resize by 55%, bicubic. Copy and paste onto your canvas. Position her in the middle of the tag. Give her a drop shadow of H and V 0, Opacity 95, Blur 12.00.
Crop and resize to your liking.
Add your copyright info, watermark and text. If you are not animating, save as JPG or PNG.
If you are animating, highlight your merged trees layer. Apply Eyecandy 5 Nature Fire with the following settings;
Copy merged. Open up Animation Shop. Paste as a new animation in AS.
Back to Paint Shop Pro. Go to edit > undo fire. Apply fire again, but this time hit the random seed button. Copy merged. Paste after current frame in AS.
Repeat the above steps 3 more times for a total of 5 frames.
Select all frames (CTRL+A). Change the frame properties to 17.
Optimize and save as gif.
