Don't Tread on Me

This tutorial was written by me on 31 October 2008. Any similarities to other tutorials is purely coincidental.
Supplies Needed:
Tube of choice. I am using the fantastic artwork of Ted Hammond. I got this tube when CILM was still open. You can find him at CDO now.

Alien Xenofex 2 Crumple and Cracks
Let's begin! Open up Sara's Template. Duplicate (Shift + D) and close the original. Resize all layers by 90%, smartsize Go to image > canvas size. Resize the canvas 700 x 600 pixels. Delete the Raster 1 and ridge rectangle layer. Add a new layer. Arrange > send to bottom. Floodfill the new layer with white.
Highlight the circle layer. Go to selections > select all. Selections > float. Defloat. Open up a paper of choice from the scrapkit. Resize 68%, smartsize. Copy and paste as a new layer onto your canvas. Go to selections > invert. Hit delete on your keyboard. Deselect (CTRL+D) Apply Eyecandy 4000 Corona with the following settings:
Delete the gray circle layer.
Highlight the large rectangle layer. Select, float and defloat. Open up a paper of choice Resize by 68%, smartsize. Copy and paste as a new layer onto your canvas. Selections > invert. Hit delete on your keyboard. Deselect. (CTRL+D) Give the layer a drop shadow of H and V 0, Opacity 60, Blur 10.00. Delete the gray rectangle layer.
Highlight the small rectangle layer. Select, float and defloat. Open up a paper of choice. DO NOT RESIZE. Copy and paste as a new layer onto your canvas. Selections > invert. Hit delete on your keyboard. Deselect.
Highlight the background 2 layer. Select, float and defloat. Open up a paper of choice from the kit. Resize 68%, smartsize. Copy and paste onto your canvas. Selections > invert. Hit delete on your keyboard. Deselect. Repeat the same steps with the Background 1 and 3 layers. Delete all the template background layers.
Highlight the frame 1 layer. Select, float and defloat. Open up a paper of choice from the kit. Resize 68%, smartsize. Copy and paste as a new layer onto your canvas. Selections > invert. Hit delete on your keyboard. Deselect. Give the layer a drop shadow of H and V 0, Opacity 50, Blur 5.00. Delete the gray frame layer. Repeat the same steps with Frame 2 and Frame 3 layers.
Open up the don't tread on me wordart. Resize by 50%, smartsize. Copy and paste as a new layer onto your canvas. Position to your liking. Apply Xenofex Crumple with the following settings:
Give the layer a drop shadow of H and V 0, Opacty 50, Blur 5.00.
Open up a button of choice from the kit. Resize by 45%, smartsize. Copy and paste as a new layer onto your canvas. Position to your liking. Give the button the same drop shadow you gave your wordart.
Open up a rose of choice from the kit. Resize by 15%, smartsize. Copy and paste onto your canvas. Position over the button. Give the flower the same drop shadow you gave your button.
Open up the broken heart bow from the kit. Resize by 60%, smartsize. Copy and paste onto your canvas and position to your liking. Give it the same drop shadow you gave your rose.
Highlight your white background layer. Open up the don't tread ribbon. Resize by 90%, smartsize. Copy and paste onto your canvas. Go to image > free rotate. Rotate right by 90, both boxes unchecked. Position to your liking. Give it the same drop shadow you gave your broken heart bow.
Open up your tube. Resize bicubic if necessary. Arrange to your liking. Give your tube a drop shadow of H and V 0, Opacity 60, Blur 9.00. Hide your white background and merge your visible layers. Resize the merged layer by 90%, bicubic. Go to adjust > sharpness > unsharp mask. Radius 5, Strength 15, clipping 1.
Open up a paper of choice from the scrapkit. Copy and paste as a new layer onto your canvas. Apply Vix's mask :

Fit to Canvas
Hide all mask
Delete the mask from your layer palette. Answer yes to the pop up box and merge the group. Resize the mask by 95%, smartsize. Apply Xenofex Cracks with the following settings:
Give the mask a drop shadow of H and V 0, Opacity 50, Blur 5.00.
Crop and resize to your liking. Add your copyright info, watermark and text. Save as JPEG or PNG.
