Christmas Magic

This tutorial was written by me on 17 December 2008. Any similarities to other tutorials is purely coincidental.
Supplies Needed:
Tube of choice. I am using the stunning artwork of Emerald de Leeuw. I got this tube when she was still with MPT. I don't know where you can find her art now, so just use another tube instead.

Ok! Let's get started! Open up my template. Duplicate by holding down shift + d. Close the original. Delete the credit info layer.
Highlight the stripey rectangle 1 layer. Go to selections > select all. Selections > float. Selections > defloat. Open up a paper from the kit. Resize by 78%, smartsize. Copy and paste as a new layer onto your canvas. Go to selections > invert. Hit delete on your keyboard. Deselect (CTRL+D) Give the layer a drop shadow of H 2, V 2, Opacity 60, Blur 2.00. Delete the gray stripey rectangle 1 layer.
Highlight the merged layer. Select, float and defloat. Open up another paper from the kit. Resize by 78%, smartsize. Copy and paste onto your canvas. Selections > invert. Hit delete and deselect. Give the layer a drop shadow of H -2, V -2, Opacity 60, Blur 2.00. Delete the gray merged layer.
Highlight the stripey rectangle 2 layer. Select, float and defloat. Open up a paper from the kit. Resize by 90%, smartsize. Copy and paste onto your canvas. Selections > invert. Hit delete and deselect. Give the layer a drop shadow of H and V 0, Opacity 60, Blur 5.00. Delete the black circles layer.
Highlight the circles layer. Select, float and defloat. Open up a paper from the kit. Resize by 78%, smartsize. Copy and paste onto your canvas. Selections > invert. Hit delete and deselect. Give the layer a drop shadow of H and V 0, Opacity 60, Blur 6.00. Delete the black circles layer.
Highlight the bracket layer. Select, float and defloat. Open up a paper from the kit. Resize by 78%, smartsize. Copy and paste onto your canvas. Selections > invert. Hit delete and deselect. Give the layer a drop shadow of H and V 0, Opacity 60, Blur 10.00. Delete the gray bracket layer.
Highlight the bracket stripes layer. Select, float and defloat. Open up a paper from the kit. Resize by 78%, smartsize. Copy and paste onto your canvas. Selections > invert. Hit delete. Deselect. Give the layer a drop shadow of H and V 0, Opacity 60, Blur 5.00. Delete the white stripes.
Highlight the circle fill layer. Select, float and defloat. Add a new raster layer. Open up the winter scene. Copy. On your working image, paste into selection. Deselect. Delete the gray circle fill layer.
Highlight the circle frame layer. Select, float and defloat. Open up a paper from the kit. Resize by 78%, smartsize. Copy and paste onto your canvas. Selections > invert. Hit delete and deselect. Apply Constellation with the following settings:
Give the layer a drop shadow of H and V 0, Opacity 70, Blur 6.00. Delete the white circle frame.
Highlight your bracket layer. Open up holly 3 from the kit. Resize by 30%, smartsize. Copy and paste onto your canvas. Apply Mura Meister Copies with the following settings:
Resize the encircle holly by 50%, smartsize. (all layers unchecked!!) Apply Eyecandy Nature 5 - Snow Drift with the following settings:
Give the layer a drop shadow of H and V 0, Opacity 65, Blur 5.00. Center it behind your picture.
Open up a wreathe of choice. Resize by 15%, smartsize. Copy and paste onto your canvas. Give it a drop shadow of H and V 0, Opacity 50, Blur 5.00. Duplicate the wreathe. Go to image > mirror. Position them in the upper corners of the horizontal stripey rectangle. (see my tag for reference)
Open up the gift from the kit. Resize by 25%, smartsize. Copy and paste onto your canvas. Give it a drop shadow of H and V 0, Opacity 50, Blur 5.00. Duplicate the gift. Go to image > mirror. Positon them on the bottom corners of the horizontal stripey rectangle. (see my tag for reference)
Open up a bow of choice. Resize by 35%, smartsize. Copy and paste onto your canvas. Give it a drop shadow of H and V 0, Opacity 50, Blur 5.00. Positon the bow in the middle of the top bracket stripe.
Open up a flower of choice. Resize by 25%, smartsize. Copy and paste onto your canvas. Give it a drop shadow of H and V 0, Opacity 50, Blur 5.00. Duplicate the flower. Go to image > mirror. Then, image > flip. Position the flowers to your liking or see my tag for reference.
Open up another bow of choice. Resize by 20%, smartsize. Copy and paste onto your canvas. Give it a drop shadow of H and V 0, Opacity 50, Blur 5.00. Position at the top of the vertical stripey rectangle (see my tag for reference)
Open up the bling stars from the kit. Resize by 45%, smartsize. Copy and paste onto your canvas. Give them a drop shadow of H and V 0, Opacity 50, Blur 4.00. Position them on the bottom bracket stripe. (see my tag for reference)
Open up an embellishment of choice. Resize by 20%, smartsize. Copy and paste onto your canvas. Give it a drop shadow of H and V 0, Opacity 50, Blur 5.00. Duplicate the embellishment. Go to image > mirror. Position them to your liking on the circles.
Open up a bow of choice. Resize by 15%, smartsize. Copy and paste onto your canvas. Give it a drop shadow of H and V 0, Opacity 50, Blur 5.00. Duplicate the bow. Go to image > mirror. Postion them on the 2 skinny rectangles.
Add any other embellishments of your choosing.
Hide your white background. Merge all visible layers. Resize your merged layer by 90%, bicubic. Duplicate your merged layer. On your bottom layer, go to adjust > blur > guassian blur. Apply with a radius of 15.00. Apply L and K's Zitah with the following settings:
Apply again but change control 1 to 17. Apply again but change control 1 18. Apply one more time, changing control 1 to 19.
Highlight your white background. Open up the stars from the kit. Resize by 50%, smartsize. Copy and paste onto your canvas. Duplicate the stars 5 times for a total of 6 layers. Arrange as in my tag above. Hide your white background, merged layer and your blurred layer. Merge all star layers together. Apply Constellation, same settings as before. Go to adjust > sharpness > unsharp mask. Apply with the following settings:
Radius - 5
Strength 35
Clipping 1
Give the stars a drop shadow of H 1, V 1, Opacity 35, Blur 1.00. Make sure your stars layer is right above your white background.
Highlight your top layer. Open up your tube. Resize as necessary, bicubic. Copy and paste onto your canvas. Grab your freehand selection tool. Carefully select around the areas of the tube you want to add constellation to. Apply Constellation with the following settings:
Give your tube a drop shadow of H and V 0, Opacity 60, Blur 10.00.
Crop and resize to your liking.
Add your copyright info, watermark and your text. Save as JPG or PNG.
