Angelic Ornament

This tutorial was written by me on 24 November 2008. Any similarities to other tutorials is purely coincidental.
Supplies Needed:
Tube of choice. I am using the fantastical artwork of Zindy Nielsen. If you wish to use her artwork, you must purchase a license at her site here
Scrapkit. I used the gorgeous scrap Blue Frost by Scraps with Attitude. You can purchase this awesome scrap here.
Template 49 made by me. You can download it from my blog here
Candy Cane Wreathe mask made by me which you can get here
Pearly white pattern here Put it in your patterns folder
Font of choice. I used Bonheur Royal (pay font)
Plugins
Xenofex 2 - Constellation (for animation)
Animation Shop (opt)
No other supplies needed
Let's get started! Duplicate my template by holding down shift + d. Close the original. Delete the credit info layer.
Highlight the bracket rectangles layer. Go to selections > select all. Selections > float. Selections > defloat. Open up a paper of choice from the kit. Resize by 78%, smartsize. Copy and paste as a new layer onto your canvas. Go to selections > invert. Hit delete on your keyboard. Deselect (CTRL+D) Give the layer a drop shadow of H and V 0, Opacity 50, Blur 10.00. Delete the black bracket rectangles.
Highlight the 4 brackets layer. Select, float and defloat. Open up a paper from the kit. Resize by 78%, smartsize. Copy and paste onto your canvas. Selections > invert. Hit delete. Deselect. Give the layer a drop shadow of H and V 0, Opacity 60, Blur 8.00. Delete the dark gray 4 brackets template layer.
Highlight the long bracket layer. Select, float and defloat. Add a new raster layer. Go to your materials palette, and find the pearly white pattern in the drop down menu. Make it your background, angle 0, size 100. Floodfill your new layer with the pattern. Deselect. Go to adjust > add/remove noise > add noise. Apply noise, Random and Monochrome checked, with a value of 10. Give the layer a drop shadow of H and V 0, Opacity 50, Blur 10.00. Delete the black long bracket layer.
Highlight the bulb fill layer. Select, float and defloat. Open up a paper from the kit. Resize by 78%, smartsize. Copy and paste onto your canvas. Selections > invert. Hit delete. Do NOT deselect.
Open up your tube. Resize, bicubic as necessary. Copy and paste onto your canvas. Position to your liking within the selection. Hit delete. Deselect. Give your tube a drop shadow of H and V 0, Opacity 50, Blur 10.00. Delete the gray bulb fill layer.
Highlight the bulb frame layer. Select, float and defloat. Add a new raster layer. Floodfill the new layer with the pearly white pattern. Deselect. Apply noise, same settings as before. Give the layer a drop shadow of H and V 0, Opacity 60, Blur 10.00. Delete the gray bulb frame layer.
Highlight the angel 1 layer. Select, float and defloat. Add a new raster layer. Floodfill with the pearly white pattern. Deselect. Apply noise, same settings as before. Give it a drop shadow of H and V 0, Opacity 50, Blur 5.00. Delete the gray angel layer.
Highlight the angel 2 layer and repeat the above steps.
Highlight the candle fill 1 layer. Select, float and defloat. Open up a paper from the kit. Resize by 78%, smartsize. Copy and paste onto your canvas. Selections > invert. Hit delete. Deselect. Delete the gray candle fill layer.
Highlight the candle 2 fill layer and repeat the same steps as above using the same paper.
Highlight the candle 1 layer. Select, float and defloat. Add a new raster layer. Floodfill the layer with the pearly white pattern. Deselect. Apply noise, same settings as before. Give the layer a drop shadow of H 1, V 0, Opacity 50, Blur 2.00. Delete the gray candle 1 layer.
Highlight the candle 2 layer and repeat the same steps as above.
Highlight your white background. Open up the swag from the kit. Resize by 35%, smartsize. Copy and paste onto your canvas. Give it a drop shadow of H and V 0, Opacity 50, Blur 8.00. Go to image > free rotate. Rotate right by 45.00, both boxes unchecked. Duplicate the swag. Go to image > mirror. Duplicate the mirrored swag. Go to image > flip. Duplicate the flipped swag. Go to image > mirror. Position all 4 swags as in my tag above.
Highlight your bracket rectangles layer. Open up a ribbon of choice from the kit. Resize by 70%, smartsize. Copy and paste as a new layer onto your canvas. Go to image > free rotate. Rotate right by 90.00, both boxes unchecked. Position the ribbon between the two bracket rectangles and give it a drop shadow of H and V 0, Opacity 60, Blur 5.00.
Highlight your top layer. Open up a flower of choice. Resize by 25%, smartsize. Copy and paste as a new layer onto your canvas. Give it a drop shadow of H and V 0, Opacity 50, Blur 5.00. Duplicate the flower. Go to image > mirror. Position them to your liking on the bulb frame (see my tag for reference)
Open up a sequin of choice from the kit. Resize by 10%, smartsize. Copy and paste as a new layer onto your canvas. Give it the same drop shadow you gave your flowers. Position it on the hole of the bulb frame.
Open up a bow of choice. Resize by 15%, smartsize. Copy and paste onto your canvas. Give it a drop shadow of H and V 0, Opacity 50, Blur 5.00. Position over your sequin.
Open up a snowflake of choice from the kit. Resize by 10%, smartsize. Copy and paste onto your canvas. Give it the same drop shadow you gave your bow. Duplicate the snowflake and position them at the ends of your long bracket.
Add any other embellishments of your choosing.
Hide your white background and merge your visible layers. Resize your merged layer by 95%, smartsize.
Highlight your white background. Add a new raster layer. Floodfill the new layer with the pearly white pattern. Apply my mask:

Fit to Canvas
Hide all mask
Delete the mask from your layer palette, answer yes and merge the group. If you like you can colorize your mask like I did. Apply noise, random, monochrome, value 15. Resize the mask layer by 95%, smartsize. Give the mask a drop shadow of H 1, V 0, Opacity 40, Blur 2.00. Position the mask to your liking.
Crop and resize to your liking.
Add your copyright info, watermark and text. If you are not animating, save as JPG or PNG.
If you are animating, grab your freehand selection tool, type point to point, feather set at 1.00. Carefully select around the areas of your tube you would like to sparkle.
Apply Xenofex Constellation with the following settings:
Deselect. Copy merged. Open up Animation Shop. Copy and paste as a new animation in AS.
Back to Paint Shop Pro. Go to edit > undo select none. Edit > undo constellation. Apply constellation again, but this time hit the random seed button. Deselect. Copy merged and paste after your current frame in AS.
Repeat the above steps 2 more times for a total of 4 frames.
Select all frames (CTRL+A) Change the frame properties to 13.
Optimize and save as gif.
