PostHeaderIcon Succubus

This tutorial was written by me on 7 October 2008.  Any similarities to other tutorials is purely coincidental. 
 
Supplies Needed:
 
Tube of choice.  I'm using the awesome artwork of Jessica Dougherty.  If  got this tube when CIlM was still open.  You can find her at CDO now.
 
Scrapkit.  I am using the beautiful scrapkit Elegant by Soxsational Scraps.  If you would like to purchase this kit you can here.  Thank you, Tracey!!

Ok, let's begin!  Open up the Succubus Template and delete the credits.  Highlight the frame layer and colorize (if you wish to your liking)
 
Highlight your white background.  Go to Layers > New Raster Layer.  In your layer palette, pick 2 colors that are the same hue, just make one slightly darker than the other.  Make a gradient with Angle 45, Repeats 7, Style Linear.  Floodfill your new layer with the gradient.  Apply the mask to this layer.  Delete the mask, answer yes, and merge the group.  Duplicate the mask layer.  On the original layer (bottom one) go to adjust > Blur > Gaussian Blur, Radius 15.00.  Highlight the top mask layer.
 
Open up the matt from the scrapkit.  Resize by 40%, smartsize.  Copy and paste onto your canvas.  Go to Image > Free Rotate.  Rotate Left by 45.00 (both boxes unchecked)  Apply Xero Bad Dream with the following settings:

Now apply Mura Meister Copies with the following settings:

Resize by 80%, smartsize.
 
Highlight your circle fill layer.  Select, float and defloat.  Open up another paper of choice from the scrapkit.  Copy and paste onto your canvas.  Go to Selections > Invert.  Hit delete on your keyboard.  Deselect (CTRL+D).  Delete the gray circle fill layer.  Highlight your picture layer.  Change the blend mode to Luminance.  Apply Xero Bad Dream to the picture with the following settings:

Hide the gray crescent moon fill layer, and the frame layer.  Merge your visible layers.
 
Unhide and highlight the crescent moon fill layer.  Go to Selections > Select All.  Selections > Float.  Defloat.  Open up a paper of choice from the scrapkit.  Resize by 79%, smartsize.  Copy and paste as a new layer onto your canvas.  Go to Selections > Invert.  Hit delete on your keyboard.  Deselect (CTRL+D)  Apply Xero Bad Dream to your paper with the following settings:

Delete the gray crescent moon fill layer. 
 
Open up a charm from the scrapkit.  Resize by 40%, smartsize.  Copy and paste onto your canvas.  Give it a drop shadow of H and V 0, Opacity 60, Blur 3.00.  Position to your liking. 
 
Open up a butterfly from the scrapkit.  Resize by 30%, smartsize.  Copy and paste onto your canvas.  Give it the same drop shadow you gave your charm.  Position to your liking. 
 
Add any other embellishments if you wish. 
 
Open up your tube.  Resize if necessary, bicubic.  Paste onto your canvas.  Give your tube a drop shadow of H and V 0, Opacity 70, Blur 10.00.  Position to your liking. 
 
Add your copyright info, watermark, and text.  Crop (DO NOT RESIZE) to your liking. 
 
Highlight your bottom layer.  (This layer should have your white background, mask, the encircled matt, your circle paper layer and your picture):

Copy.  Open up Animation Shop.  Paste as a new animation.  Duplicate until you have a total of 6 frames.  Select all frames (CTRL+A)  Open up the fog animation.  Select all frames (CTRL+A)  Copy.  Go to Edit > Paste into selected frame.  Make sure you position the animation over the picture.
 
Back in Paint Shop Pro, hide the merged layer.  Copy merged.  Paste as a new animation in AS.  Duplicate until you have a total of 6 frames.  Select all frames (CTRL+A)  Go to Edit > Paste into selected frame. 
 
Change the frame properties to 30.
 
If you wish to resize, use the bicubic setting. 
 
Optimize and save as gif.
